Melissa Sandor; Consultant and Writer

Melissa Sandor has 14 years of experience in arts and education not-for-profit fund raising in New York City and nationally. She has provided services in capital campaign planning and implementation, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts strategy and cultivation, prospect research, special events planning and database assessment and conversion.

Sandor was the Director of Development for Studio in a School, a New York City based visual arts education organization. She was responsible for raising $4.5 million a year, board recruitment and stewardship and the successful management of the organization’s 25th Anniversary Gala, which resulted in $1.2 million of revenue.

As a senior development officer at Kent Place School in Summit, New Jersey, Sandor effectively qualified the school for a $25 million capital campaign, established a major gifts and prospect research program and secured the school’s first corporate funding effort. Sandor has held senior fundraising positions with The City University of New York, Queens College, where she managed corporate and foundation relations, and Pratt Institute, where she established a major donor effort that resulted in the institution’s largest gift to date of $13 million.

Sandor is a member of the Board of Directors of Women in Development, New York and the New Jersey Chapter of the American Prospect Research Association and has presented at the Council for the Advancement of Secondary Education (CASE) annual conference.

She is a published journalist covering arts and culture for Buffalo Spree magazine and ArtVoice.
